This plant is the mini version of the Umbrella Tree Schefflera actinophylla.
 
Seven to nine leaflets arranged in a whorl on short stems cover this small shrub-like plant.  The leaves are bright green and can be variegated.
 
CARE
Give the plant medium to bright light.  The variegated versions need more light than the all-green ones.

WATERING
Water thoroughly and then allow the soil to dry down a bit before watering again.  It is easy to rot this plant, so keeping it on the drier side is better than keeping it wet.  Keep it drier in the winter when the light levels are lower.
