Can be a little on the wild side, the Emerald Feather is amassed with a filigree of living fronds that grow from a compact central crown. This nest of fork-like needles peacefully sprawls, trails and crisscrosses, giving the plant a full fresh feel to subtly soften your space.

Trimming off the older, thinning or bare fronds in early spring will encourage new growth.
 
If you notice rapid needle loss and yellowing stems, increase the humidity. Trim back any yellowing stems at soil level.
 
Light
Bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight may scorch the needles, whereas insufficient light may turn them yellow and cause them to drop.
 
Watering
Water regularly to keep the soil moist but don't over water, can survive short periods of drought. Less water is required during the winter.
 
Temperature
Average warm household temperatures. Needs a minimum of 10°C in winter.
 
Humidity
Does not particularly need increased humidity, but not enough will cause needle drop. Some occasional misting will be appreciated.
 
Feed
Feed with a weak solution during the growing season.
 
Height & Growth Rate
Up to 60cm high with a spread of 80cm. Long fronds will trail rather than grow up. Asparagus are fast growing.
 
Toxicity
If this plant has berries they are inedible. May cause skin irritation.
 
Origin
Asparagus densiflorus Sprengeri originates from Eastern and Southern Africa.
